Fri 8/30 - Mon 9/2	Eastern High Sierra	Backpack Trip (Porter W & Doug) This backpack trip will take us to the Eastern Sierra above the town of Lone Pine at elevations in the range of 10,000 to 12,000 feet in the Cottonwood Lakes area. It will be approximately 20 miles over 3 days through the Golden Trout Wilderness, John Muir Wilderness, and Sequoia National Park. The trailhead is at Horseshoe Meadows at 10,000 feet, which gives us great access to the High Sierra without extensive climbing from lower elevation. Once on the trail, the scenery will be stunning: pristine alpine lakes and streams, high elevation meadows, large basins gouged out by glaciers, and surrounding peaks rising to over 13,000 feet.
Tuesday 9/3/2019 7:30pm - 9:00pm	CUCC Basement	Kickoff Meeting for Troop 407 2019-2020 Scouting Year (JKM) Wear your full Class A uniform. Let's start this year looking sharp! This will be an important information sharing time for everyone planning to be involved in Troop 407 during this coming year. All Scouts must bring: At least one parent, preferably both. $110 annual dues: make checks to "Troop 407, BSA" or pay through the Online Store. Updated Scout Profile information forms which were sent to you in the mail. Please provide us with all of the requested information. Many forms that we must file with the Council throughout the year require this information and it is much easier to collect it all now. Legible entries in a brightly colored pen will greatly ease data entry. If you did not attend summer camp with us, or used last year's medical form to do so, a new complete Annual Health and Medical Record. Those scouts (First Class and above) interested in running for SPL or ASPL, come prepared to speak about your qualifications and ideas.
Friday 9/6 5:30pm - 9:30pm	CUCC Basement	Leadership Training Seminar (Mark W) This will be a fun and fast-paced event appropriate for scouts holding the rank of First Class or above. Attendance is mandatory for our newly elected SPL and ASPL and is a requirement to be eligible to run for Patrol Leader next Tuesday. It is also highly recommended for any of our older scouts prepared to help with the leadership of our troop.
Saturday 9/7 10am - 10pm	Huntington Beach	Beach Day & Bike Ride (JKM) Join all of your troop friends for a day and evening at the beach. Some will drive, some will ride bikes, all will have fun! Those who are interested will start at The Pond in Anaheim and ride the Santa Ana River Trail to Huntington Beach. We will gather at Huntington Beach for play, a burger and dog BBQ, and s'mores. Bring the whole family. We need committment from some parents to go early and claim a fire pit and some to make the food happen.

Saturday 9/28 8:20am - 1:00pm	Casa Primera Alvarado Adobe	Service project (Jen J) Scouts will be raking, cleaning up trash and trimming trees at the area's oldest standing adobe. Built in 1837, La Casa Primera is still standing thanks to continuous care by the community. Be a part of preserving this important history by helping maintain the grounds.
Sunday 9/29 7:00am - 6:00pm	Ice House Canyon	Hike (Doug) 15 mile day hike from Ice House Canyon trailhead to Ontario Peak. A group wishing a 10 mile hike will turn around at Ice House Saddle.

It is either 10 miles one way or 20 out and back. With enough adults, we could have groups for both distances.

Friday 10/25 5pm Sunday 10/27 9pm	Lake Mead	Campout at Lake Mead. (Mark) We will camp on a beach on an island in the middle of Lake Mead and spend the days playing in the water and exploring the island. We will have boats and equipment so people can waterski and tube ride. We will have a single troop-wide menu planned by the adults. Bring your swim trunks, sunscreen, hat, ground cloth and sleeping bag, cup, bowl, and spork. And sunscreen and a beach chair. Also bring sunscreen. Get flyer.

Sunday 11/3 8:00am - 11:00am 4:00pm - 5:00pm	Padua Hills Theater	Service project (John C) Help setup and tear down for the Padua Art Fiesta. This event is put on by the Claremont Museum of Art. We help setup tables and chairs, art displays, umbrellas, etc in the morning before the event starts and then help put it all away in the afternoon when it is over.

We will leave Saturday morning and return Sunday afternoon. Backpack cooking by patrol.

We will all act as ushers and greeters before the service and some of us will participate as acolytes, readers, musicians, and leading the Children's Celebration. We are hosting the "coffee" after the service so plan to stay until about 11:30.

Tuesday 6/23 5:30pm - 8:30pm	Meet at turnout by San Antonio Dam	Evening Hike. (JKM) We will take the Evey Canyon trail from Mt Baldy Road to the top of Potato Mountain, watch the sunset and the lights of the valley come on, and then hike back down, arriving just as it gets dark. It is about 5 miles round trip. Bring water, snacks, and your Ten Essentials. You must bring and wear a cloth face covering and maintain at least 6 feet of distance from any person not in your immediate household. Note: Parking is no longer allowed at the trail-head on Mt Baldy Road. Please park at the large turnout at San Antonio Dam and walk 1/4 mile up the road to the trail-head.

This will be an important information sharing time for everyone planning to be involved in Troop 407 during this coming year. Every youth must bring at least one parent. (JKM)
Saturday 9/12 10am - 10pm	Huntington Beach	Beach Day & Bike Ride (JKM) Join all of your troop friends for a day and evening at the beach. Some will drive, some will ride bikes, all will have fun! Those who are interested will start at The Pond in Anaheim and ride the Santa Ana River Trail to Huntington Beach. We will gather at Huntington Beach for play, a burger and dog BBQ, and s'mores. Bring the whole family. We need committment from some parents to go early and claim a fire pit and some to make the food happen.

Friday 1/22/2021 5pm Sunday 1/24 4pm	Joshua Tree N.P.	Campout at Indian Cove Campground, Joshua Tree National Park (JKM). Sites 55-59, 63-66. This is a great car-camping trip featuring patrol cooking, rock scrambling, orienteering, and plenty of time for advancement.
