Ten Commandments
Hike About 400 Boy and Girl Scouts, their leaders, and families will hike to ten different places of worship in the north Pomona and Claremont area. At each location, a member of the clergy will speak on one of the Ten Commandments and will also provide a brief introduction to their faith tradition. It is kind of an "Intro to the World's Religions 101 in five miles." The hike will begin at the Islamic Center of Claremont Mosque at 3641 N Garey Ave (NW corner, Garey & Foothill) and end at Claremont United Methodist Church at 211 W Foothill Blvd (N side of Foothill, E of Indian Hill). Bring your lunch and water in a pack. Cost for registration and a patch is $5 due at the Troop meeting on 2/5. |

San Jacinto |
Tram ride and short backpacking trip on Mt San Jacinto. (Alice) We will ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway from the desert to the Mountain Station at 8516 ft. Then we will backpack about two miles to a campsite at Round Valley and spend the afternoon exploring. We will get up early Sunday morning and day hike to the top of Mt San Jacinto (10,834 ft) and back to Round Valley (about 5 miles), pick up our backpacks and hike back to the Tram for the ride down. |
