Tuesday 9/12 7:30pm - 9:00pm	CUCCC	Kickoff Meeting for Troop 407 2000-2001 Scouting Year Wear your full Class A uniform. Let's start this year looking sharp! All Scouts must bring: At least one parent, preferably both $30 annual dues: make checks to "Troop 407, BSA" Any corrections or additions to the scout profile information forms which were sent to you in the mail. Please provide us with all of the requested information. Many forms that we must file with the Council throughout the year require this information and it is much easier to collect it all now. Legible entries in a brightly colored pen will greatly ease data entry.
Saturday 9/16 7:00 am - 4:00 pm	Switzer Falls, Angeles Forest	First Outing of the New School Year! Switzer Falls: An Enjoyable 4-mile round trip family hike with lunch at the bottom of Switzer Falls. Meet at CUCCC at 7:00 am. Departure will be before 8:00am, so do not be late. We will carpool up to Switzer Picnic Area in the Angeles Forest. (Angeles Crest Highway 2, just past the Clear Creek Information Booth at the junction of Angeles Forest & Angeles Crest Highways) Equipment: Day Bag, Large Fanny Pack, Rucksack - whatever will hold all your gear! Sack lunch, 2 water bottles,10 essentials, Hiking boots or sturdy tennis shoes, Permission Slips, Map of Condor peak (we will share), and a 7.5 topographic map Sign Ups will be Tuesday, September 12th Parents, we do need drivers and you are very welcome on the outing!

Sunday 2/11 6am - 8pm	San Jacinto	Snow play day on Mount San Jacinto. We will ride the Palm Springs Tramway up into the snow and play for the day. One can rent cross-country skis, snowshoes, and sliding tubes at the top. You can also bring any kind of plastic snow play equipment with you. No metal please. You can pack a lunch or buy lunch at the snack bar at the top. The tram fee is $10 for 12 and under and $17 for 13 and over. This fee is due in cash on Tuesday 1/30 to reserve your spot. You should bring cash with you on the day of the trip for any equipment you wish to rent and any food you wish to buy. .

Saturday 4/7 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm	Hughes house	The BASH! Don't miss this annual party and get together for parents and adult friends of Troop 407. This is a Bring Your Own Meat barbeque and pot luck with a silent auction, a famous white elephant gift exchange, door prizes, and an opportunity to support Old Baldy Council's Friends Of Scouting campaign. Most importantly, it is an opportunity to meet and get to know the parents of the boys your kid hangs out with at Scout activities. Look for invitations in the mail.

Which Patrol can build the coolest project with the best lashings? George and Matt will be there 1/2 hour early to review lashings with anyone who wants a head start.
Tuesday 5/8 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Service patrol: Falcons. Scout Skill Jeopardy organized by Mrs Smith (our CC) and Geoff Macbride (our next-to-newest ASM and returning Eagle). Come show off your knowledge of Troop 407 and Scouting history as well as Scout skill subjects ("He got lost in the fog in London", "Stopped breathing, severe bleeding, and internal poisoning").
Tuesday 5/15 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Service patrol: Hawks. Compass Game organized by Scott S. Get your bearings using a compass and some clues to find the hidden treasure. We will also start the "book" part of Fishing (Brad Stauffer) and Waterskiing (Jim Martin) Merit Badges. The pratical parts of these MBs will be taught and completed on the Lake Mead Campout (June 1-3).
Tuesday 5/22 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Service patrol: Owls. Scoutmaster Conferences. First Aid round robin and disaster scenarios organized by Zach H. Come review your first aid skills and then use them to help "save" several "victims" of disaster.
Tuesday 5/29 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Service patrol: Pheasants. Board of Review. Court of Honor planning. Water and Boating Safety (Jim Martin) and campout planning. Come learn the ins and outs of a boating campout. If you are attending the Lake Mead campout, you must attend this meeting.
Friday 6/1 4pm Sunday 6/3 10pm	Lake Mead	Note date change. This is one of our most popular campouts. We will be camping on a sandy beach on Lake Mead. Activities will include boating, waterskiing, tubing, sandcastle building, frisbee, sunning, fishing, and other water/beach play. Boats are needed for this outing. If your family has a ski-type boat that they could bring on this outing, please let Jim Martin know as soon as possible. The outing is dependent on having enough boats. Get info packet.
Tuesday 6/5 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm	CUCCC	Court of Honor. Bring the whole family to congratulate those Scouts who have worked hard to earn Ranks and Merit Badges. This is a time for our larger Troop family to celebrate together. Let's show up in force!
Tuesday 6/12 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Service patrol: Ravens. Scout Skill Obstacle Course organized by Geoff Macbride. This should be an awesome event! How fast can you build a fire that will burn through a string? How fast can you tie six different knots? How fast can you correctly say the Scout Oath and Law? How about your Patrol Yell? Come test yourself at this fun and fast-paced competition.
Tuesday 6/19 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. We will start more informal summer meetings. Uniform is Class C: your red Troop T-shirt and whatever shorts you like for sports. Most meetings will be held at a park or school and we will spend most of the time in a sports activity. Note that summer meetings will be 1/2 hour earlier than normal to take advantage of daylight. On this first Tuesday of summer meetings, we will do some brainstorming and make a plan for the rest of the summer.
Tuesday 6/26 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm	CUCCC	Troop meeting. Final Planning for Argus. If you are going on the Argus Adventure, you must attend this meeting. There will be much information discussed and paperwork to be completed.
Saturday 6/30 6:30am Sunday 7/1 7pm	Newport Seabase	Argus Adventure A weekend trip on a 1905 Danish tall ship where we are the crew. This trip is limited to 20 people (scouts and adults) because of berth space. At least two must be adults. The first 20 to turn in money beginning 2/13 will get to go. Tuesday 7/3 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm	Pomona College	Basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Equipment will be available for any or all of these games depending on the whims of the group in attendance. We will meet at the Pitzer College Athletic field off Claremont Blvd. Mike Manwarren is organizing this evening's events.
Tuesday 7/10 6:30pm - 8:30 pm	Potato Mountain	Kyle, Geoff, and Jeff will lead a hike up Potato Mountain, that little bump of a hill just above Claremont. Meet at the Evey Canyon pull out on Mt Baldy Road just above the dam. Note that we are departing on the hike at 6:30 so we don't run out of daylight. If you need time to get organized, get there early. We start walking at 6:30. The hike is a little under 5 miles and provides a great view of Claremont and the surrounding area. We should get back to the trailhead at about 8:30-8:45.
Tuesday 7/17 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm	Memorial Park	Capture the Flag. Come play Capture the Flag with the whole troop. The more people we have, the more fun it will be. Meet in the open area along Yale Ave (in front of the band shell).
Tuesday 7/24 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm	CUCCC	Summer Camp preparation. Make sure you are at this meeting to get organized for camp at Holcomb Valley. Bring your medical form and ideas about the Merit Badge classes and activities in which you wish to participate while at camp.
